Picking the right material is fundamental.
While deciding which material to pick, one must consider many things, for example the final product’s functionality. Experience is the most efficient ally to reach top-quality and satisfy your client.
What options do we have?
Let’s take a look at some of the plastic materials on the market.
ABS: excellent thermal insulation, great elasticity, shockproof and resistant to chemical corrosion, very easy to colour, also available as self-extinguishing material.
PMMA: very good, glass-like transparency, UV resistant and weatherproof, light-diffusing, endless colouring possibilities, scratch resistant, also available in frost colouring.
NORYL: heat resistant, good electrical properties and hydrolytic stability, can be powder-coated.
PVC: universal and ductile material, naturally self-extinguishing.
PC: anti-UV, transparent, light-diffusing, very good mechanical resistance, endless colouring possibilities, also available in frost colouring with fibre additive.
PP: chemical-resistant, elastic, able to withstand the stresses and insulating.
PS: highly ductile material, completely non-hygroscopic, also available as transparent version.
POM: very rigid, abrasion-resistant and heat-resistant, good electrical and dielectric properties, self-lubricating.
HDPE: high molecular mass, abrasion-resistant and heat-resistant, good electrical and dielectric properties, self-lubricating.
These are the materials that we use to extrude profiles and mold objects, while testing and evaluating new options to always try to be ahead of our time.
